3M HIS completed its first major cloud migration in 2016, moving its health services platform and the vast majority of its software as a service (SaaS) solutions from colocation / managed services data centres into AWS. The migration was something of a blended model, with some applications built for cloud, and the rest lifted and shifted to move fast and ensure a smooth transition for customers.

The AWS migration highlighted a need for increased cloud learning capabilities, particularly given 3M HIS’ expansion into cloud, and the depth and breadth of its planned future endeavours.
